UI Stanley Museum of Art Named Recipient of an American Rescue Plan Arts Grant

On November 10, 2021, the Iowa Department of Arts and Cultures announced that the Stanley Museum of Art will be awarded $7500 as a recipient of the American Rescue Plan Grant. The funding from this grant will be used to support the work of Interim Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Diana Tuite, who will work with Curator of African Arts Cory Gundlach and Director Lauren Lessing to finalize plans for the inaugural exhibition of the Stanley’s celebrated collection in the new museum building, which will open to the public on September 2, 2022.

The Stanley represents the University of Iowa as one of the 236 organization and individuals selected to be grantees. Over $1.5 million was distributed across Iowa to aid in the return of the state’s arts, culture, history, and creative sector by supporting arts and cultural jobs and programming in the humanities post-COVID-19.
