Stanley Creates: Cardboard Loom Weaving

Stanley Creates: Cardboard Loom Weaving promotional image

The art of weaving has a rich history across cultures, and we have many beautiful woven artworks in the Stanley’s collection.  In this program, you will use household materials to create a simple loom and learn methods to make small multicolor woven pieces of your own, which can be transformed into wall hangings, coasters, bookmarks, or other creations of your choosing.

Stanley Creates is an interactive program for children and teens to learn artmaking techniques using everyday materials. Taking inspiration from the museum’s collection, participants play with materials to create unique projects at home. Angie Barr, a master’s candidate in art education at the College of Education, demonstrates the process and provides feedback to participants.

Video instructions will be available after the event for those who are unable to attend, but would like to make the projects.
