The University of Iowa and the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art look forward to seeing you at a public ceremonial groundbreaking.
Visual and performing artist Tony Orrico will create a work of art prior to the ceremony by translating his movement practice into visual form.
Remarks will be made by UI President J. Bruce Harreld; Lauren Lessing, director of the Stanley Museum of Art; Lynette Marshall, president and chief executive officer of the University of Iowa Center for Advancement; and Lindley Warren Mickunas, who graduated in 2018 with a BFA in photography and was the post-baccalaureate curatorial assistant of modern and contemporary art at the Stanley in 2018-19.
After the turning of the ground, attendees will be invited to participate in a Jackson Pollock-inspired activity to mark the spot that the new museum will be located. This activity is weather permitting.
Public parking will be available in Lot 3, west of the Main Library.
