Stanley Creates: Coffee Painting
2:00 PM–3:00 PM
Online via Zoom
Coffee, it's not just a drink!
Coffee painting is a centuries-old technique that produces a painting similar to watercolor. By modifying the intensity of the brewed coffee, artists can adjust the saturation of the hue. Join Lauren Linahon to learn how to transform your energizing morning drink into a beautiful work of art!
Stanley Creates is an interactive program for children and teens to learn artmaking techniques using everyday materials. Taking inspiration from the museum’s collection, participants play with materials to create unique projects at home. Lauren Linahon, a master’s candidate in art education at the College of Education, demonstrates the process and provides feedback to participants.
Lauren Linahon is a graduate student in art education. She has led artmaking workshops for United Action for Youth and taught studio sections of the course Create, Imagine, Play: Human Development through Arts at the University of Iowa.
Video instructions will be available after the event for those who are unable to attend, but would like to make the projects.
Cost: Free, registration required
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in a program, please contact the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art in advance at 335-1727.
