After a 14-year wait, the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art will open its new building with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26. A full evening of free activities and entertainment will follow the ceremony and continue throughout the weekend. Art lovers of all ages will have the opportunity to rediscover the Stanley’s extraordinary collection in “Homecoming,” the inaugural exhibition, and enjoy concerts, performances, artmaking activities, and guided tours. In addition, the Stanley Campus Council will host a kick-off event open to all students in Gibson Square Park from 5 to 8 p.m on Thursday, Sept. 1. More information about opening week events will be released in the coming weeks.
