Artwork Review & Appraisal
Please do not bring your works of art into the museum offices or galleries.
The museum and museum staff are prohibited from offering valuations, appraisals or authentications for works of art because of inherent conflicts of interest. This policy includes, but is not limited to, comments on the place of origin, attribution, creation date, quality, and market value for works of art.

Artwork identification
There are valuable sources available to help you identify and track down your artwork such as libraries, museum websites, and online databases.
If you are in the Iowa City area, we encourage you to visit the University of Iowa Art Library and the Iowa City Public Library as part of your artwork research process.
Artwork appraisal and authentication
These services should be conducted by a certified appraiser or reputable auction house. The University of Iowa neither endorses nor recommends any particular appraiser.
