Hello, I’m Katharine Cummings, and I am excited to be the Graduate Assistant of Collections & Exhibitions with the Stanley Museum of Art! I am in the first year of my master’s degree program with the School of Library and Information Science. Previously, I earned my BA at the University of Iowa in American Cultural Studies and Art and received a certificate in Museum Studies, too.

I’m passionate about the work that goes into a museum’s collection, from the care of objects in storage to preparing materials for an upcoming exhibition. I’m looking forward to aiding the Collections team with various projects, including, but not limited to, organizing collection spaces, exhibition installation, and archiving past exhibit labels. I’m hoping to learn more about the intricacies involved in managing art museum collections and how exhibitions are planned and conceptualized from a technical perspective.
