Happy Spring semester Hawkeyes! Here at the Stanley, we really felt the love on February 12th when over seventy students stopped by our cutesiest Date Night ever!
A bit of an annual tradition at SMA, Date Night has been running every February since the grand reopening, and this year we celebrated again in style. Our free catered desserts disappeared within minutes, it seemed (which of you ate all the pink macarons?!), but luckily, Island Sunset mocktails brightened our spirits all evening. Not to mention the nigh-angelic live harp music, provided by Melanie Landsittel, our very own graduate assistant for Learning & Engagement! The acoustics of our unique lobby carried her music right up the stairs, where it could be heard all the way on the third floor. Could you ask for anything more magical?
Serenaded by harp, our lovely student guests for the evening enjoyed a Polaroid photo booth with friends and collaging glittery personalized valentines and valen-Stans alike (Stan the Gallery Cat DID get dressed up just for this occasion, thank you for noticing). It makes us rosy-faced and heart-eyed just to think about it!
Thank you again for making this a Date Night to remember! If you popped by our welcome table or the Info Desk, hopefully you picked up your Student Challenge Card for Spring 2026 - or even better, you had yours ready to go! Some folks are already on their second of three stamps for the semester, well on their way to a prize of their choice during Finals Week in May. Exchange your three-stamp Challenge Card for a water bottle, a Baggu tote bag, and hopefully a secret third prize currently in the works. Keep an eye out, and come back for a visit soon
