Welcome back, Hawkeyes!  

For our first event of our Night at the Museum series this year, we collaborated with Hawk the Vote to spotlight the importance of voter engagement. Hawk the Vote is a student-run organization that focuses on increasing student voter turnout in local, state, and federal elections.  

Students were able to register to vote and get more information on voting. They could also enjoy snacks and make crafts inspired by historical activism in the form of unique buttons, junk journaling, and collaging. They could look at slideshow examples from artwork at the Stanley or from digital archives to get more ideas. Students got to get creative with projects they could take home and enjoy a break from class.  

On top of the opportunity to craft, this is the first event where students were able to get a stamp on their student challenge cards! Students who get at least three stamps in a semester can choose their pick of a Baggu tote bag, Nalgene water bottle, or a Stanley-themed bandana with different color combinations. Be sure to grab a card from the museum front desk and come back for a prize during finals week!
