Suzanne Tick | Making Materials Matter & What Now?

Join artist, innovator, designer and UIowa alum Suzanne Tick for two insightful conversations about her work.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building, Suzanne will present What Now?—the ever-changing discussion of evolution, connectivity with the world around us, and what is relevant for the time as we move forward as creatives in a post-Covid world.

On Thursday March 21, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the Art Building West, Suzanne will present Making Materials Matter—a visual journey through time, space and materials with Suzanne Tick, where she will share insights into her design process and the cultivation of emerging ideas and trends that are translated into sustainable product.

Suzanne Tick is a CEO, textile designer and weaver based in New York City—she received a bachelor's degree in woven design from the University of Iowa and an associate degree in applied arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Tick maintains a hand weaving practice and creates fine art woven sculptures from repurposed materials on the two looms in the space that are collected and exhibited worldwide. She is known for her sustainability and wellness approach to design. Her work has been exhibited in MoMA, Cooper Hewitt, MAD, Art Basel and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
