Join us at the Stanley for a four-hour immersive, multimedia collaboration between NYC-based art-rock duo Sky Creature and dancer/artist Tony Orrico.
In this live music+live art performance, Tony Orrico (Assistant Professor of Sculpture & Intermedia, and Dance) partners with Sky Creature to produce a high-energy dialogue between sight and sound.
Originally conceived as a soundtrack to Orrico's performance, the music is part contemporary Classical, part ambient rock, and intensifies over time to mirror the increasing athleticism of Orrico's work.
Sky Creature and Orrico have appeared at PS1 in Iowa City, Speed Art Museum (Louisville, Kentucky), the Knoxville Museum of Art (Knoxville, Tennessee), The Exploratorium (San Francisco), and BAMPFA (Berkeley, California).
This performance at the Stanley Museum of Art will be the first-ever 4-hour event, a new milestone that pushes the trio to its absolute limits.
Says vocalist Majel Connery: "The piece culminates in this glorious apocalypse where we’re all exhausted, I’ve lost my voice, Tony’s covered in graphite, and Matt looks like he just ran a marathon. The final 30 minutes is worth the wait.”
This performance lasts for 4 hours. Guests are welcome to drop in at any time or stay for the entire duration. Please note that space is limited, and we will be monitoring capacity.
