Tell us about yourself:
I am a native Iowan, born on an Iowa century farm. I came to Iowa City in 1989 as a pediatric clinical nurse instructor for the College of Nursing. Recently, I have been a substitute school nurse for Iowa City Community School District. I love art of all kinds, particularly the art of caring for others. When I am learning about art, I like knowing what was happening in both the artist’s world and the world at large at the time the art was created.
What inspired you to become a Stanley docent?
I was inspired by my memories of observing other UI docents from years past when I attended tours for families and school age children in the 90’s and early 2000’s.
What are you looking forward to in the new building?
I am most looking forward to the Stanley opening so the whole community can participate in observing art and sharing their thoughts and inspirations together.
Photo: My picture was taken near an open market near Sacré-Cœur in Paris, September 2019, just before the Covid-19 pandemic would change our world. I am choosing this picture because the Stanley Museum is a result of another shift, the flood of 2008.
