Explain your experience working for the Stanley:

I work as a Gallery Host, where I have the opportunity to greet visitors, help out with events, and answer questions. This semester, I also worked with Curator of Special Projects, Derek Nnuro, on some curatorial projects.

How did your involvement at the Stanley complement your studies?

I will be graduating with a BA in Art History, a BM in Oboe Performance, and a Museum Studies certificate. As an art history major, I love being surrounded by art and learning about the collection. I love when visitors ask questions, and I can put my art history knowledge to the test! Interacting with the staff has helped me to see the inner workings of the museum environment and has shaped my career goals.

What was your favorite moment or part of working at the Stanley?

I love to hear visitors come back downstairs from the galleries and talk about their experiences or ask questions. So many people will walk by and tell us how much they loved the museum. It always reminds me how lucky we are to have the Stanley on campus!

Where are you headed next?

I will be taking a gap year before going to graduate school. I will be looking for a job in the museum field in the meantime.

What will you miss most about Iowa?

I will miss the community here! I have met so many incredible people, from friends in my classes to friends at my campus ministry, and especially my co-workers at the Stanley!
