Hello! My name is Josie and I will be working as an intern in the Learning & Engagement department this spring as I complete my museum studies certificate. I have been a gallery host at the Stanley since fall 2022 working at the museum has been one of my favorite parts of my time at the University of Iowa – I love spending time here!
In addition to museum studies, I am completing my BFA in graphic design, which will culminate in a solo exhibition in the beginning of April. I love everything related to design, but I especially enjoy learning new printing processes and am a big fan of screen printing and risograph printing. I am excited to merge my love for design and museums in my intern role this spring!
I intend to use this internship to develop educational materials for visitors looking for a more interpretative way to engage with our collection. I have found that I am particularly passionate about finding ways for people to get engaged in art museums regardless of their knowledge of art or art history and am excited to introduce visitors to close-looking and visual interpretation as new ways to interact with art.
