Tell us about yourself: I’m a retired elementary principal, and former member of the education department at Clarke University in Dubuque. I continue to love learning and teaching. A visit to an art museum is an important stop for us wherever we travel.

What inspired you to become a Stanley docent? I became interested in becoming a docent because of that love of learning. I’ve visited art museums all over this country and Europe. I truly believe art can be a beacon of hope and learning for everyone. The artists with whom one studies and interacts, through their work, provide limitless horizons and possibilities for inspiration. You just never know who, or what, will speak to us each time we enter the museum. Possibilities are endless!

What are you looking forward to in the new building? I am looking forward to learning and guiding in the new Stanley Museum of Art. I believe it will be a special place in which docents and visitors can interact with art. I’ve seen photos of our museum pieces, and can’t wait to see them live, in their true perspectives!
