Due to the flood of 2008, the museum's former building was deemed unsuitable for the return of artwork. However, the collections were saved, and through the use of temporary facilities and creative outreach, the museum continues to offer the invaluable experience of art to the university, the community, the state of Iowa, and beyond.

Hours for UI Stanley Museum of Art Temporary Exhibition Locations:


  • IMU/SVC closed: Sunday, March 15
  • The SVC will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.
  • The SVC will close at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 17.
  • The SVC will close at 6 p.m. on the following Thursdays: May 21, 28.
  • IMU/SVC closed: Sunday, May 31
